Craft techniques in different genres, including at a minimum fiction and poetry

Various methods of reviewing student work

Production and revision of creative writing

Reading, discussion, and analysis of literary models

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate use of literary techniques in the production of original works in different genres
2. Read diverse professional and student texts actively and critically
3. Use the writers’ workshop and/or peer and instructor feedback to evaluate their own manuscripts as well as the manuscripts of others
4. Participate in a community of writers
